Maddie will then share strategies for how you can reframe your mindset of what your toddler’s tantrum is saying, and how this mindset shift is the first step towards genuinely approaching emotions with respect and understanding. She will dive into the ways in which we may unknowingly be disrespecting our children’s emotions, and the impact this can have on their development. In this Zoom webinar Maddie will be discussing how to support toddlers emotions through respect based care. Maddie’s goal is to help caregivers move away from fear and isolation based behavior management techniques, and towards gentle and respectful leadership where children are respected at each stage of life. Most recently, Maddie started The Toddler Connection, a program designed to support parents, educators and caregivers in understanding how to use respectful leadership so they can support children in learning how to feel safe and secure in their emotions and relationships. Maddie has worked with infant, toddler, preschool and school aged children and is currently a content strategist for HiMama, an early childhood tech company in Toronto. Maddie Hutchison is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with her Master’s in Early Childhood Studies, and a specialty in children’s rights. Shared relaxation is mutually beneficial for parents/caregivers and babies and enhances nonverbal communication. Yoga can help infants by relieving digestive upset, constipation, gas and colic. Baby yoga promotes more and better sleep for your infant. Learn how to courageously handle your baby in ways that they enjoy and help them towards their next stage of development. We will learn poses, sing songs, and have fun! Class will also involve some gentle core-rebuilding exercises for adults, including pelvic floor activation and balance restoration. This unique class is yoga for your baby, helping them to preserve their innate bodily awareness, strengthening the bond between parent and child, and inspiring a deep trust between parent and child which will set the stage for their future relationships. The SRCPC supports the 1000 Hours Movement. Walk a block and raise 5 bucks! For every block walked, we suggest asking your donors for $5. You can join individually, sign up your family as a team, or join others as a team! Once you have created your team, feel free to share the link above with your friends and family to help you towards your goal! There is no minimum amount required to walk. Please help us continue running quality programs for the 2023 year! We are asking families to walk together to help raise funds for the Centre. This program helps to alleviate the parental isolation that so many families are experiencing, especially during the pandemic. The series invites 10-12 families with new infants to discuss topics such as how anxiety affects newborns and it includes tools to best equip parents. One of our most successful online programs has been our 8- week Attachment Parenting Baby Love series for new parents. When you support this event, you join the community of individuals who are making a difference in the lives of children and families in our neighbourhood! Best of all, these services are FREE for everyone, including those from low-income and newcomer families. South Riverdale Child-Parent Centre offers a daily drop-in program, outings, workshops, a clothing exchange, and toy and book libraries. ![]()
